YOURMELBOURNE 2024. BMW Group Australia, RMIT and University of Melbourne proudly present the fifth edition of #YourMelbourne, a future-focused sandbox where you can imagine, research, design, and present your vision of Melbourne in the year 2030, in line with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. BMW Group Australia has announced the finalists and winners of this year's YourMelbourne student competition in collaboration with The University of Melbourne and RMIT University.

For the fifth consecutive year, BMW and the two universities invited students to research, design, and present their vision of Melbourne in 2030, which aligns with the 17 United Nations Sustainability Development. You are a city planner and your responsibility is to develop and present a holistic concept of Melbourne in the year 2040 that looks to improve the city in the following five key areas: public mobility, private mobility, urban planning, connectivity and sustainability. These improvements should be justified using the 17 United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.

BMW Group Australia has launched the fourth edition of the YourMelbourne student competition in partnership with two of Melbourne's prestigious universities, RMIT University and the University of Melbourne. The data (Victorian Government Data Directory, 2024) shows a strong recovery in Melbourne's public transport usage from 2021 to 2024, with metropolitan trains reaching 15.6 million riders (38%) and trams at 13.3 million (32%). While public transport usage is recovering, over 90% of trips in Melbourne are still made by fossil-fuel-powered vehicles, driving high carbon emissions and worsening.
