The curse Anna was under when Elsa struck her in the heart. Elsa's fear makes her hit Anna with ice, accidentally freezing her heart. With Anna slowly freezing to death, Kristoff takes her to the trolls for help.
Grand Pabbie says that only "an act of true love" can thaw her heart. Kristoff races back to the castle so Hans can give Anna true love's kiss. Instead of kissing Anna, he says that.
Full scene of when Anna comes to the ice castle and her heart is accidently freeze struck by Elsa in the Disney movie Frozen. Kristoff and Sven are there to. Theory: Anna freezing over actually saved her I've heard a few people ask why it took so long for Anna to unfreeze in the climax of the first film, with some even thinking that she thawed because of Elsa's hug.
However, I have another theory about why she stayed frozen for so long. My theory: the ice around her body was actually protecting her. Of course, we fans recognize that Elsa freezing parallels Anna freezing in the first Frozen, but there's more to it.
If you remember in the original film, the lyric "Beware the frozen heart" in the opening song "Frozen Heart" was meant to foreshadow of the darkest moment of Anna freezing to solid ice due to her frozen heart. Anna is freezing solid after Elsa accidentally hits her heart with her powers. Hans turns out to be a bad guy, but his attempt to kill Elsa is foiled by Anna who steps between Hans and Elsa in the last moment before freezing.
Her frozen body stops his sword. Elsa cries since Anna sacrificed her life for her. But, since Anna showed an act of true love for her sister, she thaws.
Elsa realises. How did Elsa freeze Anna's heart? Midpoint: With the help of Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, Anna arrives at Elsa's ice palace. She attempts to persuade Elsa to come back to Arendelle and thaw the eternal winter.
However, unaware of the winter until this moment, Elsa panics and accidentally strikes Anna in the heart with her magic. Anna's frozen heart Elsa accidentally curses Anna's heart with ice magic, a devastating turn of events rooted in sisterly love and Elsa's worst fears. Yet, Anna's selfless act, protecting Elsa, breaks the curse and drives the story towards resolution, subverting the traditional "act of true love" trope and aiding Elsa in mastering her powers.
At the climax of the story, Elsa performs an act of true love that unthaws Anna's frozen heart, even though Elsa was the one to freeze it in the first place. Anna's own sacrificial act of love to save Elsa breaks through to Elsa so that she is finally able to love Anna back without being haunted by fear. But before the ceremony was completed, Anna collapsed, falling into Kristoff's arms and shivering from the effects of her curse.
Pabbie informed Anna that her frozen heart would result in her freezing to solid ice forever. At this, Pabbie revealed himself, stating that there was "strange magic" present. Who saved Elsa?
