1.) London is big:- The city and metropolitan area, with millions of inhabitants, are ginormous, to say the least. Try to remain in the best places in London that you want to explore if you have just a few short days in the capital (or at least close by). This will save you a whole lot of time travelling every day across the city especially as travelling in London can add up to several hours of transport time per day.
2.) Get an Oyster Card:- When it comes to those annoying travel-related prices, an Oyster Card (for transport in London) will save you time and money. Grab an Oyster Card from most tube stations (which is FREE, with a small refundable deposit) and preload a specified amount onto the card. Your journey has the highest daily limit that you can spend in one day while using an Oyster Card. This ensures that the rest of the day's travel will be absolutely free across the whole of London after making 3 or 4 trips.
3.) Walk between tube stops:- Speaking of travel, there are quite a few stations where walking rather than taking the tube/bus is actually faster. It will take less than 3 minutes to walk from Leicester Square to Covent Garden, which is easier than going underground on the tube and won't cost you a dime.
4.) Travel to low-cost airports:- If you're trying to keep costs low, then you need to consider a few interesting details about London. You see, you can get a low-cost flight to one of London's more 'regional airports when it comes to getting yourself to London. These airports prefer to prioritise the higher landing fees, with airports like London Luton, London Stansted and London Southend all being cheaper than locations like Heathrow or London City. Having said that, there is also a downside. Stansted is about 45 minutes from the city centre by train or 1 hour by bus.
5.) Pret gives out coffee free of charge:- Yeah that's right, it's one of those fun things you wouldn't even know about London until it happened to you. You may be one of the fortunate selected individuals to obtain your coffee for free at the discretion of the barista inside Pret. Even if you're looking for a more independent venue, head to one of these beautiful coffee shops.
