I play on three different table sizes: an 8'x4' plywood "table-topper" it's great for boardgames like Gloomhaven or games with large boards and additional player mats or tableaux, or for Arkham Horror. It's rubbish for almost every card-based game and anything where you need to monitor your opponents "stuff" (completely impossible to play Suburbia. The answer to that question depends on the size of the room and the size of the table.
