Bleach fans have speculated for years about the brilliant color of Ichigo Kurosaki's hair, theorizing everything from hair product to genetics. Why does Ichigo have orange hair? I think I have the answer. It puzzled me, as Kubo himself even voiced concerns over there not being anyone to play Ichigo in a live action movie, since he found orange hair on a Japanese person unlikely (even though they could always just dye someone's hair or use a wig, but whatever, this is besides the point).
Ichigo Kurosaki (ι»ε΄ δΈθ·, Kurosaki Ichigo) is a human who is also a Substitute Shinigami. Ichigo is the son of Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki, and the older brother of Karin and Yuzu. He is also married to Orihime Inoue and has a son named Kazui Kurosaki.
Ichigo's most distinguishing feature is his spiky orange hair, a trait he has been ridiculed about for years on end. He is a fairly tall. Ichigo has orange hair because the Hollow that imprinted on his mother had orange hair.
At least that's what I want to believe Orihime has orange/caramel (?) hair, because we don't actually know who her parents are. Her mother was described as a faithless wh0re by Sora and her father tried to kill her. Do the math.
Discover the hidden meaning behind Ichigo Kurosaki's iconic orange hair in Bleach! From his family connections to his Quincy heritage, we break down how his hair symbolizes deeper elements of. However, Kubo decided the girl wasn't the ideal character to keep Bleach going, so she chose Ichigo Kurosaki. At first Ichigo had black hair, glasses and a much calmer look.
For Kubo, however, the character in this state was too similar to Rukia Kuchiki; So he decided to twist it and take it almost to the extreme to distinguish the two. If he dyes his hair, then why does he have orange hair in the flashbacks, huh? Aizen: Are we to believe that he started dyeing his hair when he was five? Ichigo: Of course I did. I always knew that I was meant to have orange hair.
Ichigo: Mostly because I really loved traffic cones. Ichigo: I wanted to be one. Ichigo: And then it became a thing!
Then later in the series we learn that Ichigo inherited his orange hair from his mother who is a Quincy, the German-coded faction of of the story. Even if his mother was still purely Japanese it symbolically represents Ichigo being a child of foreign descent, confirming what his hair color signified from the beginning. Kubo said that he gave Ichigo orange hair as a distinctive trait for his main character.
So, it's probably not important. Other characters certainly have stranger hair colors, like white, pink and green. Since blond is recessive they'd have black/red hair but can still pass on genes for blond hair.
As for why Ichigo has bright orange hair, i always just assumed it was an effect of his spiritual pressure.
