Lakeview Manor comes with a cooking pot in the main room, so practically a kitchen isn't required. It also has the cellar and exterior, both haves benches for smithing armory isn't a practical choice. library makes the most sense if looking at it from a solely practical midnset.

The Armory has a workbench, grindstone and tanning rack, while the main hall has an anvil (i.e., a forge), enchanting table and alchemist table. The only thing missing is a smelter, but that's a minor inconvenience that can be built outside or in the cellar. The armory doesn't give a forge: it gives weapon racks and mannequins.

You can have 2 forges (plus everything blacksmith): one outside and one in the basement cellar. Library is cool if you like books. Just a word of caution: they can bug, so have a number of books ready to go on the shelves and then leave them be.

I'm building Lakeview Manor and I'm at the point where I should build either the kitchen or the armory, since I love having mannequins I'd go for the latter but for the sake of RP a kitchen would be nice too. It's my first Hearthfire house and I'm puzzled on what to do now, may I just build the kitchen and place the mannequins in the basemant? In my game, I never find myself stuffing my face with food in a chair. You can eat food anywhere, and most of it is the exact same as what is found in the kitchen. The Armory has a rooftop patio, the Kitchen is a single-level high-ceilinged room, and the Library is a tower.
