May 7, 2012 -My opinion is first, if you use a wall as one side of a home made macaw cage, you can expect the macaw to redecorate for you . . . and not in a good way. Second, I don't know what materials you anticipate for the other 3 sides, floor & ceiling (and if you don't cover the floor, expect it to be redecorated, too), but if you are anticipating putting holes in the sides for ventilation, I assume you are thinking of some sort of wood (that a macaw will consider a chew toy).

Macaw nesting boxes are larger than many other birdhouses, but the components and building methods are similar for each. Make sure to add ventilation.
