Abstract To guarantee the quality of service (QoS) of awirelessnetwork, a newpacketschedulingalgorithm using cross-layer design technique is proposed in this article. First, the demand ofpacketschedulingfor multimedia transmission inwirelessnetworksandthe deficiency of the existingpacketschedulingalgorithms are analyzed.
Once the Ethernet frame is received, the AP takes the DSCP value of the IPpacket, process anyQoSpolicy (e.g., AVC policy), maps it to the 802.11e UP value on thewirelessframe and queue the frame accordingly.
