A Review on Canine and Feline Prostate Pathology

Diseases of the prostate are common in older male dogs, while occasionally reported in cats. The main challenge from a clinical perspective is the overlap of clinical signs referring to dysfunctions of the urinary and/or intestinal tract that may be observed in the majority of the disease processes.

Feline lymphoma can be characterised using the World Health Organization's (WHO) Revised European-American Lymphoma (REAL) classification system. This system is based on classifications used in human and canine lymphoma , and is nicely summarised in the paper by Vezzali and others (2010).

Feline lymphoma most commonly affects the intestines; therefore, clinical signs of lymphoma are often similar to other intestinal diseases. Affected cats often develop weight loss, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Incidence of renal lymphoma has not been reported as a subset of a large population of feline lymphoma cases. Previous studies have reported renal lymphoma as both a singular entity as well as a component of multicentric disease.
