PRIVACY POLICY (MOBILE APP)

Welcome to Privacy4Cars. We care about your privacy, so we want to help you understand what modules the app has access to, why, and how we treat your data, depending on whether you registered as a Business user, a Consumer, or an Anonymous user.

Application permissions:

  1. Camera: The Privacy4Cars App needs access to the user's camera to scan the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) via 1D or 2D barcode. The scanned VIN is decoded which enables the app to return data-wiping instructions based on Make, Model, and Year of the scanned VIN data and to uniquely determine which vehicles have been wiped. This may be of particular importance for Business users, e.g. for compliance purposes.
  2. Location: The Privacy4Cars App asks for access to the user's location. Users must grant access to location settings. This information is used for compliance and reporting to the Business, to verify Business users are using the app in line with their licensing agreements, and for Privacy4Cars to improve the product for both business users and consumers alike. We may also reach out to businesses where consumers wiped their systems (e.g. a dealer, a rental car location) in order to raise their awareness and sensitivity to protecting the privacy of their customers and employees(all data will be aggregated, de-identified, and anonymized).
  3. Make Phone Calls: Users are permitted to log in anonymously. However, anonymous users must consent to the Device ID being accessed so that the correct number of free info wipes are allocated and tracked by Device ID
  4. Mobile Store: if you are purchasing a pay-as-you-go or a subscription plan from us though iTunes or Google Play, you are sharing your identity and payment information for billing purposes. Please refer to the privacy policy of your mobile store.
