Finding a specific plushes like Squishmallows at your neighborhood retailer often involves a quick check before you even leave the house. For shoppers asking if Costco has Squishmallows right now, the answer is generally a solid yes, but with some important caveats regarding location and timing.
These huggable, cloud-like toys have become a cultural phenomenon, and the warehouse giant remains a trusted destination for many collectors. Understanding how to navigate their inventory and where to look will save you time and potential disappointment during your next trip.
Current Stock Availability at Costco Warehouse Clubs
Costco typically carries Squishmallows as part of its ever-changing selection of plush toys and seasonal items. Unlike a dedicated toy store, the selection is not guaranteed to be the same at every location or on any given day. Availability depends heavily on the specific warehouse, recent sales velocity, and current membership buying patterns.
If you are wondering, "does costco have squishmallows right now," your best bet is to treat the answer as dynamic. The stock is real when you see it, but it moves quickly, especially for popular characters and limited edition drops. Checking the Costco app or website inventory for your specific zip code is the most reliable method before you head out.
Where to Find Them In-Store
When you arrive at the warehouse, knowing where to look is half the battle. Squishmallows are not usually confined to a single, dedicated aisle, which can make the hunt feel a bit like a treasure hunt.
- Look near the Stuffed Animals section, often found in the Toy or Houseware aisles.
- Check end-cap displays, which are prime real estate for rotating seasonal or promotional merchandise.
- Be on the lookout for "NEW" stickers, as Costco frequently introduces new characters to their plush collection.
Membership and Purchasing Considerations
As with all Costco purchases, a valid membership is required to buy Squishmallows. These plush toys come in various sizes, from small keychain figures to massive, ultra-plump options that can cost more and require a larger cart.
| Size Category | Typical Location | Price Point |
|---|---|---|
| Small (12" and under) | Toy aisles, sometimes bin sections | $10-$20 |
| Large (16" to 3ft) | End caps, dedicated plush spots | $25-$50+ |
Keep in mind that larger Squishmallows often carry higher price tags, reflecting their size and the amount of stuffing required. It is also wise to inspect the plush for any signs of damage before putting it in your cart.
Online Ordering and Pickup Options
For those who prefer to avoid the in-store scavenger hunt, ordering online is a highly effective strategy. Costco’s website and mobile app allow you to search for specific SKUs and check real-time availability at the warehouses near you.
You can select "Ship to Home" if the item is available in your local store but you do not wish to hunt for it. Alternatively, choosing "Order In-Store Pickup" allows you to grab the item during a scheduled time slot, ensuring you get the exact Squishmallow you want without roaming the aisles.
Seasonal Fluctuations and Limited Editions
It is important to note that the Squishmallow selection at Costco is not static. You will find core, permanent stock, but the warehouse is famous for rotating holiday collections and exclusive collaborations.
During major holiday seasons like Halloween or Christmas, you might find theme-specific Squishmallows that are only available for a short window. If you are looking for a current, limited-edition design, calling your local warehouse directly is the fastest way to confirm if they have it in stock.
Tips for Securing Your Favorite Design
Because demand for these plush toys is high, acting with a bit of strategy can make the difference between walking out with your desired plush and leaving empty-handed.
- Check the app first thing in the morning, as new shipments often arrive overnight.
- Be flexible with the character; if your first choice is gone, a similar design might satisfy the urge.
- Visit later in the week, as weekend shoppers often deplete the popular bins.
Ultimately, while Costco is a reliable source for Squishmallows, success requires a combination of digital checking and a bit of luck during the in-store visit.
