Bmw Engine In Jeep

Enterprising swappers are pulling out old Jeep engines and dropping in diesel-burning donks for more power, more torque, and better fuel economy. They're creating mashup vehicles from some alternate universe where American vehicles have the same breadth of engine choices as the average European hatchback. I picked up this 1999 Jeep Wrangler with a bad motor, and am kicking around a variety of different engines to put into it.

Since I really like the BMW engines, what do all of you think about putting in a BMW engine? I know it would be some work, but is it feasible at all? This Jeep has a. A Cherokee with a 2.1 Renault diesel in the late 80's when Jeep was AMC owned. A Liberty with a 2.8 VM Motori diesel from 03. Currently have a tuned and deleted BMW N47 2.0L inline 4 diesel.

Makes about 225 hp and 375 lb. So it's not bmw but the mercedes om617 and om606 turbo diesels have been swapped into xj's before so it probably is possible.As for tire goals- 35's+ on a d35 is a poor recipe, you will need a rear axle swap for sure (and the front will probably be on pretty thin ice), as well as a big time regear. 40's is one ton axle swap territory, which is going to be a lot of work.
