Bmw R1300gs Engine Noise

BMW changed 2 things with the engine in the new 1300GS, moved the transmission forward and under the engine and made the engine walls thinner to save on weight. But did this change make the noise. Is r1300gs so loud? Recently, I forgot to wear my ear plugs one day and I experienced a terrible high volume sound (combination of exhaust, engine and wind sound with air pressure on my ears)while riding my 1300gs at 130km/h in a windy highway.

I still have ringing ears after 1 week. I test rode a R1300GS with ASA several weeks back. The engine racket was more than my '19 R1250RT.

And the sound is different and more of made it through my ear plugs. Not enough to bother me, but it's definitely noisier that a 1250 motor. On the RT, I actually get a little more engine noise because the fairing kinda amplifies it a little.

The engine is bloody noisy. Now Imagine this engine enclosed in a large fairing. Nothing to prove points the noise out on his.

I have a question for those who have already tested the new BMW R1300GS quite a bit. I am experiencing quite a few problems. 1) braking.

On my previous R1250GS, I could easily get the bike braked still by using 1 finger on the front brake. With the new 1300, I need at least three or four. Has anyone got a rattle noise from then engine Discussion about a rattle noise from the engine of a BMW R1300GS bike.

My 1300TE exhibits excessive noise from somewhere at the front. It almost masks the engine noise. I am hoping its bedding in related as its pretty damned annoying.

It's road speed related not engine and like a nasty sounding turbine whoosh. Now, this is just my experience with BMW's "water-boxer" engine. As I mentioned in a earlier post, the new engine does have its own set of noises.

Loud rattling noise I have my r1300gs ralley since 2 months and it has 2000km now. Since day 1 I hear a loud rattling noise mostly when cold at around 3k rpm but not all the time. Sounds like a cam chain slapping arround or a loose ball bearing bouncing round in the engin.

I somthimes hear it also when the engine is warm but than at higer rpm's.
