Forum Bmw K75

I'll likely never own a K75 again, but I'd recommend them to a rider interested in owning a "starter" BMW. I wonder when I'll get to graduate from a starter bike. At only 650,000 miles I still like my starter bikes.

For that matter, Voni at 850,000 miles still likes her little starter K75s too. I have been riding a motorcycle for about a year (87 rebel) before that I have ridden vespas for about 10 years.

I want a BMW and am looking at a couple of K75 that have popped up on craigslist. Both are early 90's and have 50 - 60 k. I am not scared of working on a bike, I have done valves.

25mph to 120mph in fifth gear, good early fuel injection, comfortable and 60 to 70 mpg. In my opinion a far better bike than the big bricks. not as a cafe racer just as a bike in general.

anyone here ever had one? there's a nice 1990 k75 w fairing and hard cases near me and the guy's only asking 1900. thinking nice ride for some longer trips. emailed him yesterday but never heard.

might call tomorrow. The K75 seems to do this with some regularity, and theory is - it's partly due to BMW using the same air-flow sensor (the barn-door one) they used on the K100 engine. Whatever - if it doesn't do it all the time.

Other stuff I had on mine: Progressive fork springs/Olhin rear shock (there are other shocks probably as good, the Olhin did raise the bike a bit).
