What Makes A 350 A 355

What is the difference between a GM 350 and a 355. I see all the hoopla about building a 355 but unsure whats so great about it versus a 350. Just wondering.

What makes the 355 a 355? thanks for the input 81 Chevy c10 SB 82 Chevy c10 SB 02 2500HD GMC CC. The 305 and the 350 have the same stroke but the 350 has a larger bore. The 400 has a bigger stroke and bore than the 350 but im not sure what exactly the 327 has.

A 383 gets it's displacement from a bigger stroke and a.030 increase in bore. The 383 stoke is 3.75".
