Click to expand... Oh it's definitely assimiliation I'd say. I'm just not convinced that the b could be completely assimilated to the v (in other words just disappear). I think that "obvious" is not pronounced with a good hearty full "b" but equally I don't think the word is pronounced exactly as if it were "ovious".
