The name mineral moon for this article is because we are going to bring out some colours of the mineral deposits on the surface of the moon. We will look at the steps involved in photographing and the pre/post processing techniques involved. This is how the moon looks like when you enhance the colors of the surface.

The Moon is usually seen in subtle shades of gray or yellow The different colors are recognized to correspond to real differences in the chemical composition of the lunar surface. The Moon's surface material, known as regolith, has subtle colour differences dictated by the mineral composition in any particular area. This mineral distribution on the lunar surface was mapped in great detail by the US Clementine probe in 1994, but you can produce images of the Moon showing these colours without having to launch a spacecraft to do so.

All you need is a one shot colour. Keeping a grayscale and a color layer separate preserves the details while enhancing colors. The result is often referred to as the Mineral Moon because the difference in orange and blue hues are due to the different concentration of minerals in the regolith.
