A standard P-trap assembly consists of three main parts: the tailpiece, the trap arm, and the curved waste arm.

- Tailpiece: This straight pipe connects directly to the drain outlet at the bottom of your sink.
- Trap Arm (or Drain Arm): This is the horizontal section that connects the curved bend to the wall pipe, known as the drain inlet.
- Bend (or Trap): The curved section that holds the water seal.
