You guys asked for it, here is my build breakdown for my BMW 128i. This car has proven to be nationally competitive in the STX class of the SCCA, and shows p. My BMW 128i has been exceptionally reliable and fun on track this summer.

The setup is good, but needs a little tweaking. Great build--I have definitely thought of doing similar stuff to a stripper 128i. You've basically got an uglier but technically superior E36 M3, which would be nicer to daily (depending on coilovers I guess).

A Suprisingly Good Place to Start When most think of the ideal platform for a BMW project car, it's unlikely that anyone would pick an E82 128i.

It's understandable, really, as the 128i has never gotten much attention in enthusiast circles. But when you look at the numbers, it stacks up very well against some of the revered icons of six. I've been building my 2008 E82 BMW 128i 6MT for the past 1.5 years.

I've spent a ton of time over in the builds section here on GRM, trying to document all the things. I recently started an actual blog/webpage, called Investigating the Apex. I've tried to write actual stories and breakdowns of the entire process of building the 128i.

I figured I'd share my 128i that I built for SCCA Solo STX Class. Car recently won the ProFinale and Overall Championship for ProSolo in Lincoln, NE as well as 5th/58 in the STX field during Nationals. Wish I could place better at Nationals but there is next year: Season Results: 1st.

I'm considering a new or CPO 128i to replace my aging Z3, and I'm confused about the two Sport Packages. It looks to me like all the performance-oriented features are in the plain Sport Package while the M Sport Package adds the appearance stuff and the little "M" on the steering wheel. Is the M package worth the extra dough?
