Hyundai First Oil Change Recommendation

Hyundai Motor America provides the Maintenance Menu for all 2000 and later model year vehicles. For the first oil change in a new hyundai car, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and have it done at the first recommended interval, usually between 7,500 and 10,000 miles. It is crucial for the longevity and performance of the vehicle to have regular oil changes done throughout its lifespan.

Not necessary but can't hurt. I did my first oil change at 3,000 miles. Hyundai uses and requires full synthetic oil, so that's what's in there now.

For my PHEV I am going to change the oil every 4,000 miles and use. Are the engines 'pre broken in'? I always thought the very first oil change on a new motor is at 1k-2k miles? Why does Hyundai recommend it at a higher milage count? I think they want my fist oil change at 5000 or 6500, something like that. thanks in advance.

If Hyundai uses special break-in oil, then it might be wise to keep the original oil in till the recommended change interval, but if it doesn't, then I plan on changing the oil the weekend before the vacation (I think of all those small metal shavings in the oil and think of the damage it could do on a hard and long drive, as this trip to. Modern manufacturing methods as well as the oil used are the reasons the recommended first and subsequent oil change are at 7.5k intervals regardless of time. True Hyundai dealerships don't use generic oil!
