The N54 wasn't introduced into the Z4 lineup in 2007, so you should be good to go. The n54 was introduced to Z4s in the following generation E89 Z4 Sdrive35i, starting in 2009 For the GS6-53BZ, you shouldn't need an adapter plate at all, you will need to modify two of the bellhousing holes on the gearbox to fit to M54/S54/S52.
