The LEGO Ideas 21319 Starry Night set has captivated both LEGO enthusiasts and art lovers alike since its release in 2020. This masterpiece, designed by LEGO fan and artist Truman Cheng, is a stunning recreation of Vincent van Gogh's iconic painting. One of the first questions that often arises about this set is: "How heavy is the LEGO Starry Night set?" Let's delve into the details and explore the weight of this remarkable LEGO Ideas set.
Understanding the LEGO Starry Night Set
Before we discuss the weight, it's essential to understand the composition of the LEGO Starry Night set. The set consists of 2,289 pieces, including a variety of colors and sizes to accurately represent Van Gogh's swirling night sky and the cypress tree. The set also includes a brick-built easel and a minifigure of Van Gogh himself, adding to the overall piece count and weight.
Boxed Set Weight
The LEGO Starry Night set comes packaged in a sturdy box, which contributes to its overall weight. The box itself weighs approximately 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs). This weight is primarily due to the robust cardboard used to protect the delicate LEGO pieces during shipping.
Brick Weight
The LEGO bricks themselves make up the majority of the set's weight. The weight of the bricks can vary slightly depending on the specific batch and manufacturing process. However, on average, the bricks in the LEGO Starry Night set weigh around 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs). This weight is distributed across the various pieces, with larger pieces like the baseplates and the cypress tree contributing the most.
Assembled Set Weight
Once the LEGO Starry Night set is fully assembled, it weighs approximately 3.7 kg (8.2 lbs). This weight includes both the bricks and the box they came in. The assembled set measures 11.2" (28.7 cm) wide and 15.3" (39 cm) tall, making it a substantial and impressive display piece.
Weight Distribution
The weight of the assembled LEGO Starry Night set is not evenly distributed across the entire build. The base of the set, which includes the brick-built easel and the baseplate, accounts for a significant portion of the weight. The cypress tree also adds considerable weight, as it is primarily constructed from larger, heavier bricks.
Comparing the LEGO Starry Night Set to Other LEGO Sets
To put the weight of the LEGO Starry Night set into perspective, let's compare it to a few other popular LEGO sets:
