ALPINA gives us a rare look at one of the most desirable cars it has ever built, the B12 5.7 Coupe based on the BMW 850 CSi (E31). The B12 5.0 was introduced in 1988 and was the first Alpina production automobile to use a V12 engine as its predecessor, the B11 used 3.5 and 4.0 L V8 engines. The suffix 5.0 means the engine displacement which was unchanged from the standard BMW M70 V12.
The B12 5.0 was based on the newly introduced 750i/iL. Exterior changes include a front chin spoiler, 17. As the RUF of BMWs, Alpina is a master of balancing performance with luxury, and the 1992-94 B12 is its ultimate flagship.
The greatest BMW E31 8 Series ever built may be the stillborn M8 prototype, powered by the 6.1-liter S70/1, the V-12 that was soon developed into McLaren's S70/2. However, this 1993 Alpina B12 is not far behind in the ranks, thanks to its bored 850 CSi engine that's. This 1994 BMW 850CSi is a European.
The Alpina B12 based on the E31 BMW 8 Series was introduced in 1990 and had two models: B12 5.0 Coupe and B12 5.7 Coupe. Both cars were fitted with a 5.0L or a 5.7L V12 engine, producing 345hp and 410hp respectively. Production was limited for both variants, with 97 examples of the 5.0, and 57 examples of the 5.7 built.
Both featured rear-wheel drive and automatic transmissions, with the B12 5. BMW/ALPINA B12 5.0 COUPÉ B12 5.0 Alpina B12 5.0 The B12 5.0 was built from 1990 to 1994 and is based on the BMW E31 850i. Offered for an appreciating new owneris this STUNNING collectible classic 1992 BMW 850i two-door coupe! Finished in "Mauritius" blue metallic over "natur" leather, this 25 year-old E31 chassis BMW shows an average of about 7,000 miles per year since new. It sports the 5.0 liter V12 engine mated to the rare and desirable 6 speed manual transmission. In 1990 BMW presented the 850i as the successor to the E24 6-series.
However, to the regret of many BMW fans, the 8-series turned out to be a large and heavy Gran Turismo instead of a sports coupe. The V12 powered 850i was, and still is, a very fast car but it wasn´t as much fun to drive as its predecessor. This led to the introduction of the B12 5.0 Coupé in 1991.
