Frau Putzer's X3's fob's go through batteries every two years, and that's with only driving less than 10k miles/ year and swapping out fobs monthly. When I get a low-battery message on one fob, I change out the batteries in both of them. Sam's Club has a package of 12 Eveready 2032's for about $1.17 each.
