It will have compensated the gap between a p-trap that is too low and a vanity. To install a drain pipe extension, you need to fit it at the opening of your sink on the vanity and the top of the p-trap. If your vanity has a lot of drawers, you can be innovative and use a flexible extension drain pipe.
Hey, installing my first sink/faucet so ran into the latest problem. I bought the delta 15999-dst faucet and it turns out that the drain assembly pipe is 7 inches too short, i.e. it doesn't reach the top of my p trap.
Measuring from the base of the sink hole to the top of the p trap is around. on my bathroom sink the drain broke so i went to lowes and bought a new drain kit. the peice that came in the kit is too small i cant screw in the nut that holds the drain tight to the sink, (i have no issue withe connecting it to the elbow).
every part i find in stores is too short as wel.l i. However, in no acceptable configuration can the P-trap be lower than the drain pipe. If you installed a new kitchen sink or bathroom vanity and the P-trap is now below the main drain line, you have to either raise the trap or lower the rough-in.
To do this, you have to: Determine the required trap height. Remove the tailpiece from the sink. The physical disconnect between a bathroom sink's drain assembly and the pipe leading into the wall, often called the drain stub-out, is a common source of frustration during plumbing installations.
This misalignment occurs when the drainpipe is positioned too high, too low, or horizontally offset from the fixed opening in the wall or floor. Addressing this issue requires understanding how. Bathroom sink drain body too short Replacing a bathroom faucet that came with a drain assembly.
I've replaced faucets before but not drains. The drain body is a lot shorter at 8 7/16" than the existing one at 12". What is the best way forward here? -Get an extension between the new body and p trap?
Is your P trap lower than the drain pipe? If you've always wondered what those funny-looking pipes under your sink are for; then you're in the right place. Would a loop of pipe which connects the two ends of the horizontal section and rises above the sink's overflow height be another way of meeting code, if one can figure out how to avoid it being too unsightly? I think that's how island sinks are accommodated. Long story short: Started trying to clear a partial clog in a bathroom sink drain, one thing after another has led to a concerningly short drainage stub out with a 1 1/2 inch pvc glued on top of the 1 1/4 inch (I'm guessing) pvc drainage stub out.
I need to extend the length from the stub out to connect a new p. :o I'm trying to install a new sink, but the drain I bought doesn't meet the old PVC p-trap. It's over an inch too short.
What now?
