The BMW Motorrad R 18 Dragster by Roland Sands Design: A straight. The whole customizing process for the R 18 Dragster took about three and a half months. Aside from just building a custom Drag Bike for BMW, we also created two different design collections of milled aluminum parts for the launch of the R 18 Cruiser: "Machined" and "2-Tone-Black".
The first BMW R 18 Dragster by Roland Sands Design was an exploration project. Weight saving was a crucial part of the project, and it lost about 50 lbs. from the frame and swing arm by removing the rear suspension and replacing the subframe and swingarm for lighter and more rigid construction.
The component list on this drag bike gives off a Frankenstein vibe. A few stock parts stayed. The two parties have whipped up an uber.
Roland Sands builds a 2021 BMW R 18 into a lowered, nitrous. For the R 18 Dragster, Sands used the milled parts from the "2-Tone-Black" collection to customize levers, wheels, valve covers, breast plate, headlight and gauges. The front end was taken from an BMW R nineT.
