Vegeta Toei Colors

Vegeta's First Color Scheme in Dragon Ball Z Is Fondly Remembered by Some Many DBZ fans were surprised by Vegeta's old-school appearance, occasionally poking fun at it in the comment section of Toei's original post. However, a considerable number of followers also stated that they actually prefer Vegeta's original look. Yes, if you watched the original Z (and not Kai), Vegeta always had this color scheme.

This was the color palette that Vegeta (and Nappa, as his armor isn't quite the same color as it was depicted with when they reached Earth) were originally depicted when first shown, as those first episodes were animated prior to the first full. Back when Vegeta first appeared in the saiyan saga, Toei miscolored his armor and hair, giving him a green armor with orange details, plus orange gloves and orange/brown boots. This occurred only in the anime, as at the time Vegeta was introduced in the anime, the Dragon Ball manga had not yet officially released a full colored Vegeta for the animators to take reference on when adapting Vegeta into the anime, so Toei Animation guessed his colors. The first few episodes of the anime that depicted Vegeta were animated prior to his first colored appearance within the manga, and Toriyama had yet to give Toei Animation the color schemes for either him or Nappa.

Toei gave Vegeta the wrong colors in his first appearance of Dragon Ball Z! They corrected it when he got to Earth, but what if they stuck to their guns and he transformed into his Oozaru Great. This is because Toei guessed their colors, as the corresponding Manga volume was not in color. Vegeta's case is corrected in the Dragon Ball Kai version of this episode and in the Dragon Ball Full Color Manga version as well.

This was my favorite look of vegeta. The first o watch DBZ in my childhood. Would be cool to see an easter eggs about it in newer or latest video games, anime, and Dragon Ball Super.

To be honest it's actually amazing that Toei only had Vegeta colors initially wrong given the fact the anime was weekly, and the manga was purely black and white. So they just had to assume based of the color of covers. Even then Toriyama himself forget the colors of his characters.

Example as a color version he did for Ultra Trunks vs Cell his hair was red. ChiChi's hair itself was purple.
