COOKING for KIDS is a multi-agency effort aimed at changing the paradigm of child nutrition in Oklahoma. The project includes culinary skill development training, child nutrition leadership training, school. Cooking for Kids OSU's Department of Nutritional Sciences partnered with the Oklahoma State Department of education, Child Nutrition to create Cooking for Kids which provides training for child nutrition professionals and helps schools prepare and serve healthy lunches on a budget.

In our Top Chef: Beaver Edition course, Young Chefs in grades 3-8 will experience a hands-on culinary journey learning essential cooking skills, exploring creativity, and gaining confidence in the kitchen. With personalized instruction and demonstrations, participants will prepare various delicious and nutritious meals and snacks while embracing their inner chef. The COOKING for KIDS Chef Consultation in Oklahoma offers a year-long program where a professional chef collaborates with school districts to assess and improve personnel, equipment, menus, procurement, and food safety.

Our recipes are tested by nutrition educators and designed to fit a variety of tastes, budgets and dietary needs. The Cooking for Kids program is helping school nutrition programs provide healthier meals for school children. Developed from scratch at OSU, Cooking for Kids is a collaboration with OSU's Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Human Sciences, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

With a tall order like that, we turned to Jim Warner, program director of Nutrition Services at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, for help. He shared three easy-to-make, no-fail recipes that your kids will love: Apple Flatbread, Grilled Peach Frozen Yogurt and Edamame Stir. COOKING for KIDS is a comprehensive, hands-on culinary training program, made possible through funding provided by the Oklahoma State Department of Education Child Nutrition.
