These DIP switches should be configured based on the circuit that the electrician set up for the charger. Example: if the circuit was set up for 40A, then the configuration of the 3 DIP switches should be in the "ON" position. As seen on figure 111 (bottom right).

BMW really needs to either step up and provide support for installation or stop selling a branded wall box. This isn't an electrician issue, it's a mfr issue, and we need clear documentation! This thread references a wallbox with 5 dip switches.

BMW wallbox installation Looks like the part number they have is 61 90 5 a1e 1b1. Attached is the manual for that wallbox part number. I'd look at your wallbox to see which version you have because from the pdf I see there are 5 different part numbers for the same box.

Specifications for the electrical connection When it is delivered, the Wallbox is set to 10 A. Ensure that you set the maximum current to suit the installed circuit breaker using the DIP switches, see section entitled DIP switch settings.
