The core shadow is the area just next to the terminator in the shadows side. It is usually the darkest part of the form shadow. When i turn them on, i see wall and furniture shadows, but not shadows casted by geometry from level above (floors, roofs, etc).

The core shadow is the area just next to the terminator in the shadows side. This is the shadow that the object casts on surfaces around it, in this case the ‘table’ it’s sitting on. The shadow is then “cast” onto surrounding objects or surfaces. An objects cast shadow is produced due to the object blocking light from the light source.
