Black Bathroom Taps Reddit

We installed black everything in bathroom renovation, and yes the black wore out where there was lots of contact, ie toilet roll holder edging, bathroom taps started to show wear in under 4 years, even the shower hose was down to silver in a lot of places. My experience with a friend owning black fittings in a zone with notoriously hard water: calcium and other mineral stains are a daily struggle. It was something I'd never thought of before, but their fittings are always stained with white mineral deposits.

matte black fixtures may fade sooner compared to other finishes. Given that these fixtures cost more than other colors, having to replace them after 3-5 years doesn't seem like it makes sense. Have you/anyone you know used matte black fixtures in any projects? What's the experience been like in terms of durability and maintenance?

The Alder brands taps we have that was supplied/installed by the builder have been rubbish in terms of durability (likely due to the hard water situation). We're in WA, ~an hour north of Perth. Black bathroom fittings are very much in right now.

If you look at new build houses or flats they've all got these black taps etc. I personally think it looks awful and will scream 2024 down the line a la coloured bathroom sanitaryware. Just like gold taps say 2023 trend.
