Tnt Blast Radius Minecraft
TNT and creeper explosions are always 0.49 and 0.5 blocks away from nearest block (2 attenuation steps), but fireball explosions can happen anywhere (1 attenuation step). To calculate the final velocity, the game takes the vector pointing from the explosion center to the entity's eye position and sets its length to the previously calculated magnitude. TNT entities are the only exception, where the direction goes to the tnt's feet instead of its eyes.
Although primed TNT normally gets caught in cobwebs, TNT propelled fast enough flies through them without slowing down at all. It is slightly smaller than a full block when activated, as with all entity versions of blocks (see shulker). Currently (14w11b), TNT cannot have its blast radius changed, only its "Fuse".
You'll probably want to be using creepers instead, which can have both their fuse and blast radius modified: The upshot of this is that explosions travel to a maximum of 1.3 times their power in blocks, through air. So airburst TNT will reach about 5.2 blocks from its center.
Through solid stone, however, TNT will only carve out a single block on all sides (a radius more than one, but less than two). Each ignited TNT block has a blast radius of roughly four blocks. This means the explosions destructive power extends approximately four blocks in all directions from the center of the TNT.
The actual area affected is more of a sphere, but Minecrafts blocky nature makes it seem more like a cube. Its blast radius is about 7 blocks in diameter, breaking most blocks around it (except obsidian, bedrock, water, lava, etc.). The blast radius varies depending on the block type and explosion power.
A TNT explosion is less destructive underwater, as water absorbs most of the blast. However, using TNT Minecarts or Respawn Anchors in creative ways can increase the effectiveness of controlled explosions. Using commands, command blocks, or the Education Edition code-builder, is there a way to make one TNT blast radius bigger, or to do more damage? Thanks.

Only cumulative TNT cannons or Wither Skulls (which break obsidian over time) can chip through.
