Occupy Madison Tiny House Villages (three of them!) for people who have experienced houselessness is hosting our 10th annual Plant Sale on Saturday May 3rd from 10am. The new development will consist of 28 small houses in the shape of Conestogas, a type of covered wagon. Occupy Madison hopes to get zoning approval for a permanent village of about 18 somewhat larger tiny houses on the site.

The permanent village would be funded by a bank loan and financial assistance from Dane County. Occupy Madison, with help from numerous community groups, has built nine tiny houses, a day resource center, laundry facilities and a community gardening space in the village. The 96 square foot homes are made from reclaimed and recycled materials and include a bed, a toilet, propane heat and solar panels for electricity.
