Nutrition Cooking for Kids OSU's Department of Nutritional Sciences partnered with the Oklahoma State Department of education, Child Nutrition to create Cooking for Kids which provides training for child nutrition professionals and helps schools prepare and serve healthy lunches on a budget. Our Cooking Academy is for chefs in grades 3 to 8. During summer term, consider the grade you are about to enter.
We deliver our classes at our kitchen on the OSU Corvallis campus, on the third floor of Milam Hall. OSU Extension offers a collection of healthy, affordable recipes that support nutritious eating and practical meal planning. Our recipes are tested by nutrition educators and designed to fit a variety of tastes, budgets and dietary needs.
Recipes Each month we spotlight a seasonal Ohio grown ingredient-like potatoes, lettuce, or carrots and share kid-friendly recipes that celebrate fresh, local food. These recipes are designed with Early Care Providers in mind: they're simple, CACFP-compliant, and perfect for engaging young children in healthy eating habits. The COOKING for KIDS Chef Consultation in Oklahoma offers a year-long program where a professional chef collaborates with school districts to assess and improve personnel, equipment, menus, procurement, and food safety.
OUAB in the Kitchen Join OUAB Grad/Prof in the Instructional Kitchen at the Ohio Union for a chance to cook a meal of your own under the guidance of the Union's own professional chef, Chef Ben. Choose from a wide range of course themes. Following a cooking demonstration by the chef, students will collaborate with class members to create the menu, providing a unique hands.
With a tall order like that, we turned to Jim Warner, program director of Nutrition Services at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, for help.
