Understanding the Israel Flag

The Israel flag, also known as the "Dexios," is a symbol of pride and unity for the Israeli people. It was officially adopted on October 28, 1948, just a few months after the establishment of the State of Israel. The flag's design is deeply rooted in Jewish history and symbolism.

• Blue stripes: These represent the stripes on the tallit, the prayer shawl worn by Jewish men during morning prayers. They also symbolize the sky above our historic homeland.
• White stripes: These represent the white border of the tallit and the hope for peace.
• Star of David: This iconic symbol represents the Shield of David, a symbol of Jewish defense and unity.
• Blue background: This represents the blue of the tallit and the sky, as well as the Mediterranean Sea surrounding our land.
