Loci Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Loci iOS application ("the App"), developed by Leverage AI Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your account identifier from the identity provider (and your email address when you use Google Sign-In, or if you choose to share it via Sign in with Apple). You may set a nickname in the App.
• Location. The App's core feature is recording which map cells (hexagonal areas roughly 66 meters across) you have visited, so the map lights up where you have been. Our servers store cell-level visit records only — a cell identifier and entry/exit times. We do not store your precise coordinates or your movement trajectory on our servers. Your detailed route is kept only on your own device and is never uploaded. With your permission, location is also collected while the App is in the background so your exploration keeps recording during a walk.
• Photos you choose to publish. Photos can only be taken with the in-app camera, at the place they depict, and are published to that map cell where they are publicly visible to all users along with your nickname. Before display we re-encode every photo and strip all metadata, including GPS EXIF data. A photo is associated only with its ~66m cell — never with precise coordinates. We verify at capture and at publish time that you are physically at the cell; those location checks use coordinates rounded to ~110m, kept internal and never displayed.
• Usage data. Basic diagnostics such as crash logs, used solely to improve stability.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information to provide the App's core features (lighting up cells you visit, computing your familiarity with each cell, displaying the shared photo canvas, and showing your own exploration history), to authenticate your account, to keep the service safe (automated content moderation and abuse prevention), and to maintain reliability.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your location data with third parties for advertising. We never show your location — at any granularity — to other users; other users can only see photos you deliberately published, attributed to a cell.

3. Content Moderation and Safety

• Every published photo is automatically screened (Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch); content flagged as adult or violent is rejected.
• Any user can report a photo. Reported photos are immediately hidden from the reporter, and photos reported by multiple users are hidden from everyone pending review by our moderation team within 24 hours.
• You can block another user, which hides all of their content from you.
• You can delete any photo you published at any time, and it is removed for everyone.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (United States region). We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and least-privilege access controls.

5. Sharing

We share information only: (a) content you deliberately publish (photos and your nickname, visible to other users at cell granularity); (b) with service providers strictly necessary to operate the App (Google Cloud Platform, Firebase Authentication), acting on our instructions; (c) when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

6. Data Retention and Your Rights

• You can view and edit your profile (such as your nickname) in the App.
• You can delete individual photos you published, in the App.
• You can delete your account from the Profile page in the App. Deleting your account removes your account information, your cell visit records, and your published photos from our servers.
• For any other privacy request, contact us at the email below and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
