The symptoms of chocolate poisoning in dogs are based upon the amount of chocolate eaten, the type of chocolate, and the time since it was ingested. The most common sign after your dogs eat chocolate are gastro-intestinal, meaning stomach upset, bloating, vomiting and diarrhea.
Note: Older dogs and dogs with heart conditions are more at risk of sudden death from chocolate poisoning. The need for immediate medical treatment depends on the type of chocolate, the amount eaten and the size of the dog.
