We examined seminal, endocrine, and behavioral traits of 29 adult malecheetahsthat were: 1) managed in public exhibit or off-display facilities; 2) maintained by different numbers ofcheetah-specific care-givers; and 3) living adjacent to varying numbers of adult conspecifics. Penile abnormalities incheetahs(Acinonyx jubatus) are rare but can present significant challenges to both captive and wild populations. This is the first report of penile abnormalities incheetahs, and results from the screening of 549 male individuals from 1994 to 2023.
Four cases of penile abnormalities were identified and included three types of penile abnormalities: one case of frenulum ... CheetahBased on an usualcolorvariation, an additionalcheetahspecies was described in 1927 - A. rex, or the kingcheetah.
The species was based uponcheetahsthat were found to have longer, softer hair and replacement of some spotted patterns with dark bars. That's why the Conservation Centers for Species Survival (C2S2) formed theCheetahSustainability Program and worked with the Species Survival Plan to implement the breeding centers model to helpcheetahsfeel more secure in their environment and increase reproductive success How do you tell if sperm is high quality? Abstract: Reproductive evaluation, including semen collection and testicular biopsy, of a 6-yr old malecheetah(Acinonyxjubatus) revealed complete azoospermia and extensive testicular changes. Basal luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone concentrations were within normal ranges for thecheetah, but resting follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels were low compared with other non domestic ...
The objective was to examine the influence of animal age, season and captivity status on seminal quality in wild-borncheetahs(Acinonyx jubatus) in Namibia, Africa. Penile abnormalities incheetahs(Acinonyx jubatus) are rare but can present significant challenges to both captive and wild populations. This is the first report of penile abnormalities in ...

This review aims to give the reader an in-depth overview ofcheetahs'reproductive physiology and behaviour, focusing on the role that pheromones play in this species. Furthermore, it aims to provide new insight into the use of semiochemicals to improve conservation strategies through captive breeding.
