Ground litter or infested plant/tree material is placed in the upper, vented area and heated from sunlight coming through a window or lamp placed over the unit. To avoid heat and dryness, insects crawl downward and drop through the 1/4" (.64cm) screen mesh and styrene funnel in the lower half. Live insects are trapped in the lower portion for observation, or the catch may be collected by partially filling the 2-oz. styrene jar with alcohol and placing it under the funnel.

Dimensions are 4-1/2" diameter, 7-7/8" high (11.4 x 20 cm).

BioQuip suggests using 2830 heat packs for collecting in areas where electricity is inconvenient or not avvailable.
