The exhibition presents these designs, often a result of community-based design, their background stories and their connection to the region, along with perspectives from the creators who compiled the research. JAPAN HOUSE is a project which aims to nurture a deeper understanding and appreciation of Japan in the international community, by creating a number of hubs from which to showcase and communicate Japan as a country of countless charms, able to enrich the rest of the world.

These hubs, located in major global cities, are designed to function as platforms for people with passion and with talent. Officially opening on May 15, 2024, and running until September 8, Japan House London's new exhibition, Design Discoveries: Towards a DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN, asks the question of 'What is design?' As Japan does not have its own national design museum, this exhibit has come together with the cooperation of 7 Japanese artists from multiple disciplines to try to find an answer to this simple. The simple, minimalist forms of a pictogram are uniquely Japanese, as new exhibition 'Pictograms: Iconic Japanese Designs' at London's Japan House illustrates.

From manga to modern architecture, prototyping to paper culture, the Gallery is dedicated to highlighting the best of Japanese culture. Minimal, refined, and intricate, these creators embrace Japanese aesthetics through a myriad of mediums including art, fashion, gastronomy, technology, textiles, and literature. Exhibitions rotate every few months, and are complimentary to all.
