John Feely Architects featured on 'Room to Improve' television show 14 Feb 2016 by John Feely A skilful contemporary extension and conservation of a period house by John Feely Architects was showcased on St Valentines night episode of RTEs Room to Improve TV programme. Architect John Feely is a very moderate man. He believes that design should be restrained and wanted the owners of this naturally elegant house in Dublin 6 to enjoy all it had to offer.

Created by Dublin-based design firm LyonsKelly, the concept for the house is as evident in the arched, airy architecture as it is in the contemporary pieces inside. The Studio is led by director John Feely who offers clients unique solutions, attention, and quality that draws on a wealth of accumulated experience including collaborations with leading architects and artists in Ireland. The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is the Regulatory and Support body for Architects in Ireland.

Support services are also provided for Architectural Technologists. The Lowe House Model, London The Model was conceived, constructed and photographed by John Feely as a 3 dimensional design tool set up using a layered kit of parts which could be studied and presented as individual components of stair, ramp, platforms, glazing, walls, or as a whole or in section, elevation and plan at all levels. A large contemporary open plan room was added, extending the full width of the existing country styled house built in the 1980s and encompassed older small rooms into one cohesive space.

A large site with long front and rear gardens in Blackrock, this house required a complete reconstruction of the interior and additional accommodation at the side and rear over two levels including a newly positioned main internal staircase serving the first floor and new attic floor bedrooms. A new glazed gallery study is created over looking the stair hall void. Initial Studio Based Consultation is free.

"The story of this townhouse project is a desire to live and work in a truly sustainable way. It is inspired by the traditional city model of 'living over the shop', where the work place is annexed to, but also very much part of, the life of the house and its surrounding community.
