SCOPE AND CONTENTS
Constitution and bylaws (1970, 1983); minutes (1968-1970); correspondence and related materials including minutes, meeting notices, committee assignments, reports, and conference announcements (1962-1997); and membership rosters (1964-1991) of a state organization begun in 1939 to encourage fellowship among engineers and to elevate the status of professional engineers. It was instrumental in getting the State Aid Program passed in 1957 which provided aid to counties and municipalities for civil engineering projects
The collection also contains records of the Traverse des Sioux Chapter including minutes (1972-1990), financial information (1979-1988), lists of officers (1939-1990), membership rosters (1948-1984), committee assignments (1958-1991), correspondence (1945-1992), scrapbooks, and historical information. Chapter 2 was organized in 1939 and comprises 15 counties in southwestern Minnesota. It sponsored a student chapter at Mankato State University and conducted classes for different kinds of engineering studies.
A few materials related to the National Society of Professional Engineers, including newsletters (1988-1989), are also included.

The Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers sponsored the competition in the state's junior high schools.
