Expand/CollapseBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Ember Reichgott JungeEmber Reichgott Junge was born August 22, 1953. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1970 and from St. Olaf College with a B.A. degree in 1974. She received a law degree from Duke University School of Law in 1977, and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in 1991. Reichgott Junge was elected as a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) member to the 73rd legislative session from Senate District 46 in 1982 and continued to serve that district until her retirement in 2001. District 46 included the suburban communities of Crystal, New Hope, Robbinsdale, Brooklyn Center, and Golden Valley, Minnesota. From 1991 to 1994 she served as majority whip, and from 1995 to 2000 as assistant majority leader. Beginning in 1999 the Minnesota senate was controlled by the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, the Minnesota house was controlled by the Republicans, and the governorship by Reform Party Governor Ventura, leading Reichgott Junge to begin researching and writing her book.

Expand/CollapseTWO PARTIES AND A JESSE FILES

The book, to be titled Two parties and a Jesse, was to be an insider's look at legislating in an era of tri-party government, based in part on Reichgott Junge's personal journal (Book musings) kept while she served as senate assistant majority leader in 1999-2000. The manuscript drafts and outlines consist primarily of various drafts of chapters 4 and 5 of a projected six-chapter book that was being shopped by a Boston agent when Governor Ventura chose not to run for re-election and publishers lost interest. The book was never published.

The recorded interviews were conducted by Reichgott Junge with the explicit knowledge that they were on-the-record.
