Organized in 1895 with Emil Oberhoffer serving as its first conductor, the Club gave its first public performance on April 13, 1896 at the Lyceum Theatre in Minneapolis. Thereafter the chorus presented three regular concerts every season. Other conductors and accompanists have included Henry S. Woodruff, Theodore Bergman, Elsie Wolf Campbell, William Rhys-Herbert, William MacPhail, James S. Allen, and Roger Hoel.

In addition to information about the club's formation, membership, repertoire, guest performers, and high school singing competitions, a scrapbook (1873-1926) compiled by charter member George B. Eustis includes information about earlier musical concerts and performers in Minneapolis, about earlier Minneapolis choral societies such as the Mendelssohn Club, about the musical careers of Eustis family members, and about the Eustis brothers' jewelry business.
