Bethany Covenant Church was organized in 1904 in south Minneapolis as Swedish Evangelical Bethany Church by members of the Swedish Tabernacle, later known as First Covenant Church, Minneapolis. Bethany moved to Richfield in 1957. The congregation, dwindling in numbers, held its last service July 28, 2013. Bethany was a member of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, a denomination established in Chicago in 1885 that is an offshoot of Swedish Lutheranism.
