HISTORICAL NOTE
The Saint Paul Academy was a private school for boys founded in 1900 and the Summit School was a private school for girls founded in 1917, both in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1968 the two schools merged to form the Saint Paul Academy and Summit School (SPASS), with the physical merger of the schools occurring in September 1969. John DeQuedville Briggs was the Headmaster of the Saint Paul Academy from 1914 to 1948, and Sarah Converse was the Headmistress of the Summit School from 1917 to 1950.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
Includes historical information; constitutions and bylaws; minutes of meetings and reports to the trustees; financial records; lists of board members and alumni/ae; articles and histories of the schools; files on John DeQ. Briggs, a headmaster of the Saint Paul Academy, and on Sarah Converse, the first headmistress of the Summit School; and records regarding the merger of the two schools.
There are also minutes of faculty committees, alumnae associations, parent-teacher associations, and student councils. Includes some information on school activities.
