These records comprise the first group of numbered personnel files created by Great Northern during the first decade of its existence. The files document the hiring and service of early employees for whom files exist. File nos. 1533-1679 are missing, as are quite a few others. The files typically contain application forms and letters, internal memoranda about the employee or prospect, performance data, and service records.
There are no individual personnel records for Great Northern Railway greater than personnel file number 1927. They were destroyed by the railroad.
