HISTORICAL NOTE
The Superior Transfer Company was incorporated in 1909 in Wisconsin as the Superior and Duluth Transfer Company to conduct a general drayage business in Superior, Wisconsin, and Duluth, Minnesota. The company was essentially a family business controlled by its president, Arthur McMullen. In 1957, McMullen offered to sell the company to the Great Northern Railway and the Great Northern accepted the offer in 1961. In 1965 the corporate name was changed to the Superior Transfer Company. Seattle, Washington, operations were added in the mid-1960s.
