BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Leslie Clyde Anderson was born June 26, 1915, in Crosby, Crow Wing County, Minnesota, to Oscar W. and Anna (Blomberg) Anderson. Leslie graduated from Crosby-Ironton High School in 1933. In 1934 he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was assigned to a camp in Orr, serving there until 1939. From 1939 to 1943 Leslie worked at Inland Steel Co. in Crosby, doing clerical work. In August 1941 he married Ida Fern Root. His first daughter, JoAnne, was born on October 27, 1942. During his time at Inland Steel Co. Leslie was deferred from military service twice yet enlisted on August 17, 1943. He spent time in several camps, including Fort Snelling, Camp Dodge, Camp Claiborne, and Camp Beals, finally settling in Hawaii at Headquarters Central where he finished out his service as a finance technical clerk. Leslie was honorably discharged on March 8, 1946.
