Though not a war correspondent, Moses wrote scores of letters and took photographs detailing his World War II experiences as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

George Harold Moses was born September 15, 1915 in Minot, Ward County, North Dakota. He attended the University of Minnesota (1933-1937), began his journalism career with the Bismarck Tribune in 1937, and joined the Associated Press (AP) in 1940. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army's 8th Replacement Depot. He was made chief of the AP's Minnesota bureau in 1950, covering major stories in Minnesota, and North and South Dakota. Retiring from the AP in 1970, he taught journalism at Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) until 1980. He and his wife, Lucille Halcrow, raised four daughters: Ann, Laura, Jane, and Sue. He died 2 June 2007 at his home in Nye, Stillwater County, Montana.
